You wake up and your entire TikTok feed is nothing but fan edits of two YouTubers who have never even shared a ring—one clip after another shouting: “JUST FIGHT ALREADY!” Wembley Stadium memes, fake posters, “leaked” contracts, and then, KSI posts a video: “I’m done. I turned down $30 million. No more Jake Paul talk.” Cue chaos. The KSI vs Jake Paul boxing feud was supposed to be the final boss of influencer boxing. Instead, it became the most hyped fight that never happened—and nobody’s even sure who to blame.
Let’s break down the drama.
First, who are these guys? KSI—real name Olajide Olatunji—is a British YouTuber who started uploading FIFA videos in 2008. He’s since gone platinum as a rapper, built an empire with the Sidemen, and in 2018, he helped launch the entire “influencer boxing” scene. Jake Paul is an American YouTuber who first went viral doing stunts and pranks, starring on Disney Channel, and then pivoted hard into professional boxing, quickly racking up knockouts and a reputation for trash-talking anyone with a pulse.
But this feud didn’t start in the ring. It started on Twitter, in diss tracks, and in the aftermath of another fight entirely.
Scene: November 9, 2019. Staples Center, Los Angeles. KSI has just gone six rounds with Logan Paul—Jake’s older brother—in front of a sold-out arena, 2 million pay-per-view buys, and a lineup of celebrities including Justin Bieber and Wiz Khalifa. The judges rule it a split decision—KSI wins. In the ring, KSI doesn’t just celebrate. Live, on camera, he calls out Jake Paul: “You’re next, bro.”
The place goes wild. Jake, standing in the crowd, stares back, jaw clenched. Fans immediately start speculating: will these two actually fight?
But the roots of the rivalry go deeper. Months earlier, in February 2018, KSI had already called out both Paul brothers after defeating Joe Weller in London. In August 2018, Jake Paul fought KSI’s younger brother, Deji Olatunji, beating him by TKO, while KSI and Logan Paul fought to a draw. So now, both families are tangled in the feud. The fanbase is invested not just in the fighters, but in this almost Shakespearean family rivalry.
After the LA fight, the hype explodes. Negotiations kick off in the DMs, on Twitter, and in interviews. Jake Paul keeps taunting KSI online. KSI fires back in music videos and podcasts. “I would make him look s**t,” KSI boasts in one clip that gets clipped and memed for months. At one point, Jake insists he’ll only take the fight if KSI publicly calls him the better boxer. Ego meets ego, and every fan forum lights up with fresh theories.
Meanwhile, Jake Paul starts stacking pro wins. On January 30, 2020, he knocks out AnEsonGib in one round on a big DAZN undercard. The first words from his mouth after the fight: “KSI’s going to get clocked next.” In November 2020, KSI is sidelined by the COVID lockdown in the UK and can’t train; Jake, in the US, keeps fighting—beating Nate Robinson, then Ben Askren, then Tyron Woodley. Each win, he calls out KSI again.
KSI steps back into the ring in August 2022. Not just once, but twice in one night: he defeats Swarmz and Luis Alcaraz Pineda at the inaugural Misfits Boxing event. Immediately, fans revive the KSI vs Jake Paul storyline. This time, the two actually agree online to a winner-takes-all fight at Wembley Stadium in 2023. The deal: the victor gets 100% of the purse.
For months, fans think it’s finally happening. Wembley Stadium is the dream venue—90,000 seats, the biggest influencer fight possible, and the winner takes everything. Social media blows up with mock posters, fantasy undercards, even betting odds. The anticipation peaks.
But then come the delays. Schedules shift. KSI wants a fight at a catchweight; Jake insists on another. Jake lines up a fight with Nate Diaz, then Tommy Fury. KSI picks off opponents in the UK. Every time talks get close, they collapse again—sometimes over money, sometimes over weight class, sometimes just radio silence from one camp or the other.
Negotiations get so public that fans can track the contract drama blow by blow on Twitter. In June 2024, Jake Paul is set to fight Mike Tyson, but the fight is postponed when Tyson suffers a medical issue. Jake calls out KSI to step in. KSI says he’s already got a fight scheduled. Jake leaks that KSI is negotiating to fight Amir Khan. Offers go back and forth—December at 185 pounds, February at 200, May in the US. Each time, the other side pushes back. Jake’s camp claims KSI is stalling; KSI’s manager Mams Taylor says Jake went “radio silent” after agreeing to terms.
Meanwhile, the feud gets pettier and weirder. In March 2024, KSI’s Misfits Boxing sues streamer Adin Ross for hosting an unsanctioned event. Jake Paul jumps into the beef, calling KSI a “lost puppy” in front of millions. Fans are split over who’s really ducking whom.
And then, the bombshell: January 10, 2026. KSI posts a video stating he’s retiring from boxing. He claims he turned down $30 million to fight Jake Paul. “I’m done,” he says. Social media explodes all over again. Some fans are furious—years of hype, and now it’s over? Others think it’s a negotiating tactic. Jake Paul, for his part, claims in a May 2026 interview with Ariel Helwani that he may never fight again, citing jaw injuries from a knockout loss to Anthony Joshua the previous year. But then he says he’ll be medically cleared for sparring in two to three months.
So why is everyone so angry? For fans, it’s the whiplash—every year, both sides tease an announcement that never comes. Meme pages keep the “JUST FIGHT ALREADY” trend alive for almost eight years. Community fights break out over who’s at fault. Was Jake Paul ever serious? Did KSI just want to protect his legacy? Did bad timing, money, or family drama really tank the biggest fight in influencer boxing?
The defenses are as loud as the accusations. Jake’s side says KSI was never serious—always ducking, always looking for an edge. KSI’s supporters claim Jake kept changing the terms and never actually signed a contract. Sometimes, even the fighters can’t keep the story straight—one month, KSI says he’s “done,” the next he’s “on a break.” Jake says he’s injured, then says he’s ready for more.
Where do things stand now? As of late May 2026, there’s no official fight date, no signed contract, and no sign that either side will budge. KSI is posting about music and business ventures. Jake Paul is talking about medical recovery. Wembley Stadium remains empty. But fans aren’t done—every Instagram post, every YouTube upload, every sideline interview still brings a flood of “when’s the fight?” comments.
So here’s what nobody can answer: if both sides claim they want it, and fans would pay millions to see it, who is really responsible for the most anticipated fight in YouTube history never happening? And is there any twist left that could actually make KSI vs Jake Paul a reality—or is this the influencer boxing world’s greatest “what if?”
